Film recommendation #14: THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST

New York based director Desiree Akhavan has won the competition at Sundance Film Festival with this sensitive coming-of-age drama based on Emily Danforth's eponymous novel.

THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST von Desiree Akhavan

As an orphan, Cameron is living with her aunt. The fact that the teenager does not love her high school boyfriend and is secretly dating a girl instead remains unknown to anybody living in this rural and religious area of the USA. However, as the two lovers are caught during the most intimate of moments, Cameron is immediately sent to boarding school. While the school uses dubious therapy methods and the music of Jesus to help its pupils find their way back to God and heterosexuality, this is the first time that Cameron has found friends with whom she does not have to pretend. One thing becomes clear: this is not the right place for them.
